All Houndesign products are handmade in Vancouver, BC, Canada. They have a non-toxic, food safe finish, which is hand buffed.

This site is dedicated to Henry, Holly, Dali, Domino, bloodhounds everywhere and all the Gentle Beasties.

The name "Houndesign" stems from the fact that we are honoured and sometimes frustrated that our lives revolve around two bloodhounds, Henry and Dali. Then of course there's Holly, Domino and all the cats. A busy place.

It started innocently enough. Wife with sore fingers from holding felting needles. Husband steps in and makes a rather crude looking needle holder from closet dowel. Then the thought occurred, wood lathe, make something decent! Having never touched a lathe, research was done, and a lathe was purchased along with a couple of books. Husband too stubborn to take instruction!

Needle punches appeared, then niddie noddies and nostpinde. Along came needle cases, threaders and drop spindles.

Wife had started hauling samples around to spinning events, and much to the husband's surprise, embarrassment, and pleasure, people liked them and bought them! By this time, the entry level lathe was about wornout, not designed for the hours it had been subjected to. So a "serious" lathe was purchased, the first one repaired, and on we went.

Then wife went on to get the husband a website for a birthday present. So here we are. Thanks for looking in.
